How do you get rid of blight on red tip shrubs?

March 17th, 2008 by admin

tracie k asked:

Help!! I have two red tip shrubs in my yard that appear to have what I’ve heard referred to as “blight”. The leaves are getting dark spots and then falling off. The red tips in another area of my yard are not yet affected. What can I do? These are really large shrubs and I’d like to save them.

where are you?…. if in a wet area, you’ll be fighting this constantly… or as long as you have the plants….. thos that are not affected yet, will be, eventually, unless you are very careful of it’s spread…..

    read here….

we’ve lost ours to the leaf spot…. they were huge, too close together and it was a rainy spring….. pay attention to the ‘don’t prune’ in mid summer idea, too… fresh new growth is too tempting to the fungus…. this is a prevalent disease for RedTips around our area… and it’s taking some darned fine old specimens…. strange, too, is that there’s some that are not the slightest bit affected….. guess we’ll clone those guys, huh?….. luck to you……….
