I need Florida landscaping ideas or layouts?

daniel.morency asked:

I just bought a home in southwest florida and it has a 8X16 area on the right of the walkway. I would also like something to the left in front of the house as well. Also, we would like to put some sort of small shrub along the backside of the house where the screen enclosure is. Please Help! I have no idea what and where to put landscaping.

Maybe to the right of the walkway, you could build a low wall out to the property line… and have a garden areain front of the wall, put a low bench seat kind of area right along side the walkway…. you could plant all kinds of pretty flowers in the area between them.

Or you could put a small pond in there with a waterfall. And have Koi or other fish, and make the area kind of natural and put some tall grass behind the pond area, and other ground cover around there.

You could try a boxwood near the back at the screened porch….

Why not plant a golden maple, Acer japonica aureum or the trusty Cedar atlantica combinined with low clipped box in a chequerboard effect for the focal of the frontage. As to the 8×16 area, a combination of a gravelled area with a small fountain centrepiece edged with low growing juniper bamboo and azaleas. Avoid rhodos as they tend to get very big. This small shrub, well try cotoneaster horiontalis.
