Can you help with landscaping suggestions for my northern facing front yard in Volusia County, Florida?

BluEyes asked:
To the right of the walkway there’s a soil bed we’d like to fill since we tore out these horrible bare halff-dead bushes that used to be there. There’s an area to sit behind the soil bed with a swing and there are colonial pillars as well. We’d like something low enough that we can still see the street, etc. Any ideas?

Hey Sarah,
Sound like a good place for Roses. Contrary to popular myths, roses are really fairly easy to grow. Pruning them takes a little knowledge. Care is fairly easy, only need a Rose Fungiside, and Rose fertilizer. Just read the labels. This will bring color (your choice), variety (your choice), and asthetics to work with your pillars.
