I’m looking to put a small tree and MORE plants in my room. Do people have recommendations on what plants and trees put out a good amount of oxygen? Thanks!

My son has to do a project for school drawing a plant or tree for each letter of the alphabet. Such as zucchini for z. Do you know any plants or trees that start with X? If so, do you know a web site that has a picture of it so my son can see what to draw. Thanks!

I heard that willow trees could possibly be planted inside the body of water and grow to extend outward past the surface of the water. Is this true? and more importantly, are there any other trees that do this as well?

Boris the American asked:
I understand ailanthus trees produce an allelopathic chemical, primarily from its roots, that inhibits the growth of other trees. Does anyone know how long this chemical remains toxic after ailanthus trees are cut down or removed? I’ve got a bunch of them that I’d like to eventually remove and replace with maples or oaks, etc. Or, does anyone know of any other trees that are not hindered by the ailanthus toxin?

I am curious about opinions– should we plant trees prior to a tree dying so that the replacement can be much larger when the older tree comes out? Would you want this done if it were your street? WHy do we need to replant / replace trees?

Hi. I am re-landscaping some bad parts of my yard. I need to buy a TON of trees as I live out in the country and have a lot of places to landscape. I cannot afford to buy expensive trees - but I still want to find trees that will grow fast.
Anyone know a good place to look?

questioner asked: In VA we are seeing some early signs of spring with a few buds on the trees. The cherry blossoms come out in a few weeks and the trees turn green in mid April. It is still a month away. I consider the last two weeks of April to be the most beautiful time of year because the trees are a fresh yellow green.
How are the signs of spring in your hometown and when do the trees turn green?

Ben W asked:
There are a lot of really big, old oak trees on my property. I live in a sort of low area, and it always gets colder where I live than anywhere else. Well, we got a big frost recently. In my area, some of the budding oak trees’ buds were severely damaged, and now they are way behind the oaks in other areas–in fact, some have barely even started to get new leaves. How long will it be before they get green again?

Big B asked:
I know some with certain types of trees (weeping willow for example), you can cut a branch off and plant it to start a new tree. Does anybody know of other types of trees that this can be done with? We were thinking of trying it with a Tulip Popular, but we weren’t sure if it would work.
Also, how do you go about doing this? Somebody told me I need to get some rooting compound?
